The Palace is the official residence of Her Majesty the Queen in Scotland. Each year, the Queen spends one week in residence in the summer during Holyrood week, usually from end of June to the beginning of July. During this period, the British monarch entertains approximately 8,000 guests.
Visitors to the Palace can explore the 16th century Historic Apartments of Mary, Queen of Scots and the State Apartments, the ruins of the 12th century Holyrood Abby, and the royal gardens. In the Queen’s Gallery visitors can take advantage of changing exhibitions from the Royal Collection.
