Arthur’s Seat is the main peak of the group of hills in Edinburgh that form Holyrood Park. The hill is located 12 miles away from Kirknewtown, about 1 mile to the east of the Edinburgh Castle. It is highly popular for hillwalking, as it provides amazing views of the city and the top is easily accessible through multiple pathways.
It is said that the hill’s name is derived from the legends of King Arthur. This is supported by the fact that other hilltops and mountaintops in Britain have similar names.
