Edinburgh International Book Festival, 9 - 24 August 2025

Held in the Edinburgh Futures Institute, the Edinburgh International Book Festival is the world's leading festival of words, literature and ideas. With over 600 events, from readings and signings to debates and children’s events, it’s a unique literary experience for all ages. Edinburgh International Film Festival, 14 - 20 August 2025 

Celebrating its 78th year, the Edinburgh International Film Festival is the world's longest-running film festival. Wild Swimming and Enchanted Evenings at Jupiter Artland

Jupiter Artland, close to our hotel, is far more than a traditional gallery. This unique open-air sculpture park features bold, immersive sculptures by some of the world’s leading artists, inviting guests to interact with the pieces as they wander through its woodland trails and landscaped gardens.

They have a programme of events throughout August and September, including idyllic Sunset Swims, Wild Swimming Wednesdays and a unique dining experience under the stars.

Save the Waves Film Festival at Lost Shore Surf Resort

Based in Ratho just outside of Edinburgh, Lost Shore Surf Resort is the UK’s newest and most innovative surfing destination. Powered by Wavegarden technology, the resort produces impressive artificial waves suitable for all skill levels.

In addition to weekly acoustic sessions featuring local musicians, this August marks the return of the Save the Waves Film Festival on August 19th, showcasing inspirational water sports films with a strong focus on conservation and climate change.

Paw Patrol at Edinburgh Zoo

Edinburgh Zoo is one of the city’s most iconic attractions, home to over 2,500 species from across the world, including lions, tigers and the now infamous Haggis the hippo. They host a busy calendar of events throughout the year, and on September 13th, they will welcome very special visitors, Chase and Skye from Paw Patrol, for a fun-filled breakfast.

FoxFest at Conifox Adventure Park

Located in Kirkliston, just 7 miles from our hotel, Conifox is a fantastic destination for active family days out. The outdoor adventure park features go-karts, giant jumping pillows, mini tractors, and more, while the impressive indoor Activity Centre boasts soft play zones, toddler areas, and a café. Their annual ‘FoxFest’ takes place on the 2nd and 3rd of August, featuring tribute acts to Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran, funfair rides and food stalls for a great family day out.
