Q: History of Dalmahoy Hotel & Country Club
A: The present house was built in the 1720's, to the design of William Adam, for George Dalrymple, youngest son of the Earl of Stair. It was then acquired by the Douglas family in 1760 and the Estate on which the house stands is still owned today by a direct descendant of the family, the 22nd Earl of Morton. Dalmahoy Hotel & Country Club is located in Kirknewton, near Edinburgh.

Driving Directions from Edinburgh Airport

Once you leave the airport, join A8 heading East towards Edinburgh. At roundabout, take exit for City Bypass and exit at first junction keeping in left hand lane. Follow directions for A71 to Kilmarnock. The hotel is 2 miles along on the left-hand side.

Driving Directions from Glasgow & the West

Take the M8 for Edinburgh and stay on all the way to the roundabout at the end, taking exit for City Bypass.  Keep in the left-hand lane and follow directions for A71 Kilmarnock.  At the top of the hill, take the 3rd exit signposted A71 and the Hotel is 2 miles along the A71 on the left-hand side.

Driving Directions from the North

Coming over the Forth Bridge on the M90 or from Stirling on the M9, join the M8 for Edinburgh and follow the directions above.

Getting Here By Bus: to and from Edinburgh

The nearest bus station is in St Andrews Square, Edinburgh (8.8 miles) From there, walk to Princes Street, and take the First Bus (service 23) or Lothian Country (service X27 or X28) which stop outside the hotel entrance. Walk up the driveway and follow the road signs to hotel reception. To head back to the city centre, take the same bus line.

Shuttle Bus (NOT CURRENTLY IN OPERATION) - Nearest Train & Tram Station

Edinburgh Park Station is 4 miles away from the hotel. We now offer a Shuttle Bus service for hotel guests (CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE). The free Shuttle Bus service will run to and from Edinburgh Park Station and guests can then catch a train to Edinburgh or Glasgow or hop on a tram into Edinburgh city centre or to the Airport. Onward journeys will be at the guests’ own expense. Guests need to pre-book this service as there is limited availability so please call the Concierge on 07917 478429 or the hotel directly on 0131 333 1845 to book your space.

Q: Does Dalmahoy Hotel have a gym/leisure club?
A: Yes, we have a state-of-the-art gym equipped with the latest LifeFitness weight machines and cardio equipment. Our fitness studio offers are a variety of classes from Spinning and Zumba to Yoga and Pilates - take a look at our class timetable. Dalmahoy also has an 18m swimming pool, and enjoys natural light streaming through the large windows at one end.

Q: Dalmahoy Leisure Club opening times
A: The leisure club is open 7 days between the hours of 6am and 10pm to members and hotel guests. You are entitled to use the facilities of the club available under your relevant category of membership.

Q: How much does the Dalmahoy gym membership cost?
A: We have different types of membership to choose from, depending on what you're looking for (Leisure Club, Resort, and Golf Only memberships). And within this, a range of categories including family or corporate. To find out more visit our golf and leisure page.

Q: Am I tied to any long-term contract when I join Dalmahoy as a leisure member?
A: No, you are not tied into any contract here at Dalmahoy. You are a member for as long as you wish, and should you wish to end your membership with us; you can do this by giving us 30 days’ notice. All notices must be given in writing and addressed to the Director of Golf & Leisure.

Q: Can I suspend my Dalmahoy leisure membership if I do not wish to cancel?
A: Yes, if for medial reasons you can suspend your leisure membership for a period of between 3 and 12 months by giving us 30 days written notice and notification of the date you expect to return. Please contact our membership team for more information; 0131 333 1845.

Q: Will the subscriptions/fees increase during my membership with Dalmahoy leisure club?
A: We may vary the subscription rate with the effect from 1st March in each year and we will notify you of such change not less than 30 days prior to any variation. Please note that any re-joiners who have previously left in the same calendar year will not be eligible for any special new joiner offer.

Q: How much would it cost me to introduce a guest into the Dalmahoy leisure club?
A: An adult day pass to the leisure club costs £26 and a junior day pass (5-15 years old) costs £5. 

Q: How do I book an appointment with a fitness instructor to have an induction on the gym membership at the Dalmahoy?
A: The membership team will book you in for your gym induction at a time that suits you and introduce you to the fitness team.

Q: How do I book a place in a fitness class at the Dalmahoy leisure club? 
A: You will receive login details from the membership team when you join that will allow you to book your classes via the member’s site.

Q: What is the dress code within the Dalmahoy leisure club?
A: Members and guests are asked to wear a form of dress appropriate to the time of day and place on all occasions.

Q: Does the Dalmahoy Hotel have a spa?
A: The hotel offers a sauna and steam room, but does not currently offer an on-resort spa.

Q: Does the Dalmahoy hotel have a golf club?
A: Yes, our hotel & country club features two 18-hole golf courses that challenge and cater for all standards. Both courses afford stunning views across the region, where you can see as far as the Forth Bridges. Explore our golf courses.

Q: Is there an outdoor jogging trail at the Dalmahoy Hotel?
A: Yes, we have an outdoor jogging trail which runs up the right-hand side of the West Golf Course. Ask at leisure reception for more details.

Q: Are there any tennis courts and how much would it cost to play?
A: We have 2 outdoor tennis courts at Dalmahoy, which are available for use by all members and guests. Tennis is free for all members. To reserve a slot simply contact the leisure reception on 0131 335 8010. Rackets and balls are also available.

A: If you’re looking to discover Edinburgh and the surrounding area then you can choose from a range of activities including shopping in town, Edinburgh Castle, Edinburgh Zoo, Dynamic Earth and trampoline parks. For activities in nearby West Lothian there are lots of options including shopping centres, Innoflate (bouncy castle park), Almond Valley Heritage Centre and The Five Sisters Zoo.
